Having cohabited for a month with Barilocheans who were very much into food like myself, I figured I should spread the joy.

Artisanal Beer

Best view: Cerveceria Patagonia

Notes: Very commercial, huge capacity, nearly nonexistent service. But the new branch way out at Km 24.7 has a sweeping vista that instantly puts you in an alpine mood and makes everyone’s day. Highly recommended for sunset.

Best atmosphere: Konna Bar

Must have: La Hamburgesa de Cordero, a massive lamb-patty burger accompanied by a stuffed baked potato. Topped off with a ramekin of beetroot dip. One portion enough to feed two.

Notes: Great for socializing. Limited brew selection, which personally makes my life a lot easier. The beer itself isn’t amazing, so realize you’re paying for the people and conversations.

Best overall: Cerveceria Manush

Must have: Manush Pizza, comes with fried eggs on top. Portion enough for two.

Notes: Loads of beers that are all delicious. Classic brewery feel.

Artisanal Ice Cream

Favorite: Rapa Nui

Must have: Tiramisu flavor—perfect texture and cake chunks!

Also try: Jauja and Dolce Rama

Artisanal Chocolate

Favorite: Rapa Nui

Must have: While a specialty many adore is their chocolate-dipped frozen raspberries, I’m not a white nor milk type of girl. My friends and I couldn’t get enough of the salty dark chocolate bar.

Best decor: Mamuschka

Hot Chocolate

Rapa Nui

Mamuschka

Notes: Both are thick and yummy, just be prepared for an empalagamiento.

Pasta

El Boliche de Alberto

Seafood

Aire Sur

Notes: Variety of healthy trout dishes. Lovely creamy lemon sauce for the fish. Very packed on weekends. Out of town in Colonia Suiza so opening hours are seasonal. Recommended for lunch with friends, expect to spend 200-300 pesos per person. Call ahead to check which days they are serving!
